A Warm Welcome from your Club Captain for 2025
May I offer you a sincere and warm welcome to The Vale Golf & Country Club.
My name is Ben Metrovich and I have the honour and privilege of being the Club Captain for the 2025 season. I am very proud to be the youngest Captain in the club’s history.
Visitors, societies and private functions are always welcome at The Vale and we trust that the course and the pleasant welcome you will receive from members and staff alike, will provide you with a memorable and enjoyable golfing experience.
If you are a first-time visitor, you will particularly enjoy and appreciate the different challenge our course provides, being a Par 74 course with no less than six Par Fives.
There is a bustling and vibrant Men’s section which is very much the heartbeat of the club, so whether you are intending on entering full on into competition golf or simply enjoy playing socially, we look forward to helping you feel involved in all that our brilliant section has to offer.
We have various ‘fiddles’ running on a near daily basis, ensuring there is always a friendly face or two to enjoy a social round with.
Competition-wise, we have numerous Medals littered throughout the season, starting in April, along with board competitions and various Opens. The ‘Blue Monster’ is a particular season highlight as it is played from our longest tees, measuring a mighty 7497 yards. It really is a stern test for both members and visitors alike.
Everything builds to the highlight of the year which is Club Championship, held over two days the second weekend in July.
A more relaxed golfing experience is enjoyed throughout the season on our legendary ‘Club Night’. A nine-hole social round of golf that is enjoyed by almost all of the section and is a fantastic way of meeting new members and potentially winning a prize or two.
The Men's Section enjoys the use of the International Course nearly every Sunday throughout the year and on non-competition weekends we run the Men's Sunday Stableford.
We also have three teams consisting of players of varying levels, competing against other golf clubs from around the local counties. These are fantastic days and help cultivate a great atmosphere amongst the section.
Our nine-hole sister course ‘The Lenches’ is a super course in its own right. A less stern test than its bigger brother but a perfect gateway into golf at The Vale.
Our chosen charity for the year is The St Richard’s Hospice. It was founded locally in 1984 and provides free, expert care and support for adults with an incurable illness, along with supporting patients’ loved ones and carers. It is a brilliant cause and we intend to raise as much money as possible.
I hope that you enjoy all that The Vale Golf & Country Club has to offer. I look forward to seeing you on the links and more than likely, in the bar afterward.
